Screening standards and services

In order to publish our components' electrical and physical specifications, Coilcraft regularly performs complete sets of tests in accordance with established standards and specifications, or specific tests targeted at reliability, repeatability and/or compliance.

Coilcraft can accommodate testing and screening to many MIL-STDs, MIL-PRFs, other industry standards (e.g., AEC-Q200), and custom flows. We can also perform custom screening and qualification that may be modified from an existing Coilcraft document or implement custom screening or qualification from the ground up. Whatever the requirements, Coilcraft can adapt to your needs...not the other way around.

Screening codes and standards

The screening codes shown on datasheets indicate the screening level as shown in the table below:

Screening
Code
Screening Standard Single Lot
Date Code
Y Unscreened SLDC option A
W Unscreened SLDC option B
1 Screening per NASA EEE-INST-002 Level 1 SLDC option B
2 Screening per NASA EEE-INST-002 Level 2 SLDC option B
3 Screening per NASA EEE-INST-002 Level 3 SLDC option B
4 Screening per MIL-STD-981 Class B SLDC option B
5 Screening per MIL-STD-981 Class S SLDC option B
F Screening per ESA ESCC3201 SLDC option B
H Screening per Coilcraft CP-SA-10001 (High reliability), details below
G Screening per Coilcraft CP-SA-10001 (High reliability), details below SLDC option A
D Screening per Coilcraft CP-SA-10001 (High reliability), details below SLDC option B
Screening performed to the document's latest revision.
Lot qualification (Group B) available for screening codes 1-5, (F4) available for screening code F, (Group C) available for screening codes H, G, and D.
Testing T and U have been replaced with more detailed codes 4, 5, and 1, 2, 3, respectively.
Codes T and U can still be used, if necessary. See details below.

CP-SA-10001 screening standard was developed for the medical industry, but has found usage in the military and space sectors as well. It is a quick and efficient way to prove reliability in a variety of applications. Based on market feedback, compiled customer requests and Coilcraft’s expertise in screening and qualification, this standard comprises a robust screening procedure with optional qualification using various MIL-STDs as guidelines. Request screening document.

Custom Screening Coilcraft can also accommodate custom screening requests that may be a modification of an existing screening document, or by creating and implementing custom built screening flow from the ground up. Whatever the requirements, Coilcraft can adapt to your needs.

Legacy Screening

CP-SA-10003/4/5 [N, M, or K screening code based on SLDC requirements] are legacy test flows that are based on MIL-STD-981 (screening and optional qualification) for their respective component types. Coilcraft will maintain these test flows indefinitely, but for new programs customers should use the direct callouts listed above.
CP-SA-10006/7/8 [J, E, or B screening code based on SLDC requirements] are legacy test flows that are based on EEE-INST-002 (also with screening and optional qualification) for their respective component types. Coilcraft will maintain these test flows indefinitely, but for new programs customers should use the direct callouts listed above.
T and U Screening flows are based on MIL-STD-981 (class S or B) and EEE-INST-002 (level 1, 2, or 3) (screening and optional qualification) respectively. These legacy suffixes have been replaced with the 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 to define the level/class of screening with the suffix. Coilcraft will continue to support components ordered with these suffixes.

Single Lot Date Code (SLDC); Lot size restrictions apply.

Option A * Components are manufactured in one continuous manufacturing run.
Option B  Components are manufactured in one continuous manufacturing run and all raw materials shall be from a single batch.

* Lot shall be processed through all of the manufacturing steps on the same equipment without change to the original setup.
Lot shall be processed through all of the manufacturing steps on the same equipment without change to the original setup. Each raw material used in the construction of the component shall be from a single batch of material.
